ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach course(s) assigned to you by following the material provided by the dean’s office or the director of your program
Answer student inquiries (from class or via email) within a reasonable timeframe (24-48 hours is standard)
Grade students’ performance fairly and to the College’s standards & policies
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic progress
Use a variety of instructional strategies to support and motivate students
Must have a flexible schedule from semester to semester
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
All disciplines require a Master’s Degree unless otherwise noted (or a Master’s Degree plus 18 graduate credit hours within assigned discipline)
Experience working in the field is required
Previous teaching experience is preferred
Experience using instructional technology is required
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent teaching skills and the ability to interact effectively with students both in and out of the classroom
Ability to communicate well, both verbal and in writing
Ability to motivate students in a positive and professional manner

We are looking for experienced, part-time English & Humanities tutors dedicated to making education more equitable to join our growing team! We are seeking tutors who are comfortable with chat-based tutoring in English.
Our tutors are language and writing experts who approach essay review as tutors rather than as editors or proofreaders using the The Paper Method: A Customized Methodology, to engage with students and help them develop their skills and confidence by providing individualized guidance and step-by-step support through our live, chat-based tutoring platform.
You'll have the chance to hone your essay review and tutoring skills, all while making a meaningful difference in students' lives by helping them improve their academic, professional, and personal writing skills. We have tutors online around the clock covering many different subjects, and as a Paper Tutor, you will receive students in any of the topics that you are proficient in (which you identify in your application). When working in the Paper classroom, you may be tutoring several students at once, working on varying topics at different grade and ability levels!
Responsibilities:
Live Tutoring: Manage tutoring sessions with multiple students (simultaneously) in your area of expertise.
Essay Review: Provide constructive feedback and suggestions on student essays/assignments.
Conduct pedagogical assessments, and provide feedback to teachers and students.
Create an engaging learning environment, and enhance student confidence and interest in learning.
Contribute to the tutor team by offering your knowledge and support to peers.
Qualifications:
Tutoring experience 1+ year
Undergraduate Degree (or in the process of completion) in relevant field
Passionate about learning and teaching
Ability to adapt to individual student needs and learning styles
Consistently available to work at least 10 hours per week
Reliable access to laptop/computer (not a tablet), and internet (we use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for our Essay Review service).
Ability to sit and type at a computer for long periods of time.

Student demand fluctuates throughout the school year, peaking in the fall and dropping off during winter holidays and summer.
Part-time tutors may receive up to 30 hours of tutoring shifts per week
Our tutors work within blocks and you can select 1 per day to create your availability within
Block 1: 4am - 2pm EST
Block 2: 11am - 10pm EST
Block 3: 8pm - 6am EST
Our tutors start at $17.50/hour (adjustments for Emeryville, Sunnyvale, Mountain View and San Francisco, California, as well as Seattle, Washington). Wages are paid biweekly, direct deposit in your national currency.

POSITION SUMMARY
In this part-time role, the Online Instructor is responsible for facilitating an online classroom experience for students between 9th and 12th grade. This online classroom experience provides students with the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. By focusing on online school activities in a Christ-centered way, the Online Instructor strives to help students internalize the Gospel message of salvation in Christ Jesus and the Orange Lutheran core values of Biblical truth, integrity, innovation, excellence, and relationships. Instructors are currently needed in the following content areas:
French

Reports to: Director of Individualized Academic Programs
Supervises: No supervisory duties
Hours of Work: Part-time, under 21 hours per week; varying schedule
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Maintain an engaging online classroom environment specific to course content, including facilitation of discussion forums, assignments, and activities that promote student learning
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students about performance in the classroom regarding assignments, assessments, participation, pacing, and engagement to ensure adequate progress through the course
Communicate frequently with parents, Academic Advisors, and other Orange Lutheran academic personnel as a partner in student education
Maintain a minimum of one office hour Monday through Friday to be of access to students
Evaluate assignments to determine student mastery of course content. Assign grades and provide reports to students, parents, and school
Maintain efficient record keeping in the learning management system and any other required student information systems
Complete required training and professional development activities as offered
